, Hello everyone
We have the IPAM application, stand alone, and we are having issues with scanning.
The server is Virtual on VMWare and the server shares itself with another application that uses SNMP. I was entering the +/- 380 subnets we have and our Cisco 6509 switch on which the virtual server is connected was in constant 95% + cpu utilisation. The 6509s is the core switch of the computer room so we had to stop it. After investigation, we found that the problem was an excessive amount of SNMP from the IPAM app. If we go to the IPAM Setting/Subnet Scans/Manage subnet scan settings and we unselected the SNMP Scanning (both option), the problem would not go away. We litterally had to go on the server and de-activate the Job Engine Service to stop the excessive scanning.
Now since the SNMP scanning is a very interesting option, I wanted to turn it back on. So I went on every segment and turned off the automatic scanning and automatic neighbour scanning. I also went to the Admin/Settings/Polling Settings and set all intervals to their maximum. I did that to be sure that I would have full control on the scanning.
Unfortunately, I think I got more than I bargain for. Now, the scanning jobs are not executing at all. I cannot put the setting back to what it was for it is sure to start the excessive scanning again, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, that is preventing the scanning. All services are operational, I don't see anything wrong in the logs, I set the default polling intervals to double their default settings and I am scanning only two segments. Yet nothing happens. The jobs are listed in the job log. It says 'Next Scan: ASAP' on all of them, yet, they don't execute.
Any help is appreciated.
